Hello!
Some of you may already know that a very special Open House event is being planned to be held at Girl Scout Camp Klahanee for Della's 80th birthday on July 10th.
Brownie/Junior Troop 651 is planning and presenting the event.
We're trying to put together displays of photos and information about the history of Girl Scouting in the Pacific Peaks Council area including all past troops and Camp Klahanee activities; Della's life, family (Fogde/Wakefield history and living family), personal friendships; and many contributions of her time and energy to GS, Timberland Regional Library, Aberdeen schools, etc.
I'm sure that many of us will be surprised by someof her life stories and just how many different things she's accomplished!
This is a huge undertaking and we need your help in several ways. If you have any photos or other documentation of the above subjects that I could borrow for one or two days so they could be scanned and copied (OR of you could scan and send them to me in a fairly large file so they would be suitable for printing). We need the photos and any other written material ASAP. The troop have a VERY limited time to put the displays together.
We also want to SURPRISE her with a collection of good wishes and written memories of those who have known her through the years. Stories, funny memories, mention of how what she has done made a difference for you or others...anything you would like to share with others and give in written form to be placed in a binder for Della to keep would be gratefully accepted by us. There will be two separate collections. One collection will be for Della and will include all written submissions. The other will be a collection of copies of the Klahanee related material and will be available for reading by those who will visit the camp in the future. The submited photos will probably be included in the binders.
Do you have an old troop scrapbook or other type of photo album you're willing to allow us to display at the event?
Not everyone has e-mail and I have addresses for only a fraction of the people I want to reach with this request. If you know someone else who might want to take part in this project PLEASE feel free to forward this e-mail to them or give them a call and ask them to please call me.
If any of our older scouts has a photo of Della singing "Three Chartreuse Buzzards" from the annual meeting of many years ago I would PAY for a copy of that one!!
As some of you may know, Della is my dearest friend and "mom". My daughter Juli is the leader of Troop 651 and Della is the "great grandma" of 651 because of both our own love for her and because her great-granddaughter Madison is a member of the troop. We ALL are working hard and want Della's party to be the best possible celebration for her. We hope you will help us by sharing your written memories, allowing us to copy photos, passing this information to others, and especially by attending!
